Our Pastor
Rev. Lionel Mason is the son of the late Mary and Roosevelt Mason. He is the second child born into this family. He graduated from John H. Martyn High School, Jefferson, Louisiana where he met his sweetheart Shirlie. He loved her so, so , so much that he married her and from this union came three (3) sons: the late Lonely, Jr. (Manny), Stefon and Brandon.
In the year of 2003, the Lord blessed Rev. Mason to retire after Thirty (30) years from Local 3000 as a longshoreman.
Rev. Mason accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as the Savior of his life at an early age and was baptized at the New Pleasant Zion Baptist Church in New Orleans, by Rev. Steven Jones.
He later joined the Second New Guide Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Calvin Jackson; where in 1984 he was ordained as a deacon. He served as a male choir member, usher, teacher, assistant director and director of the Sunday School, Senior Deacon, trustee board, outreached ministry and brotherhood.
In 1989, he received his calling to preach the gospel and he also was licensed in the same year June 19, 1992. Rev. Mason received a diploma in Christian Education for the National Baptist Sunday Church School and Baptist Training Union Congress. In 1993 he graduated from Union Baptist Seminary in New Orleans, Louisiana with a Bachelor of Theology Degree. He also received numerous awards, certified from various choose and associations for training and studying God's Word.
Rev. Jackson gave Rev. Mason his blessing and permission to come to First Baptist Church of Paradis to assist Elder Albert M. Charles.
In 1993, Rev Mason and his family joined First Baptist Church.. He was ordained on February 18, 1994 by Elder Albert M. Charles, and the Second District Association Rev Mason diligently attends Sunday School and Bible Class. He has taught Bible Class for the last two years using What the Bible teaches, John, Mark and presently the book of James He also tutored deacons He trains others on witnessing and evangelizing He served as Assistant Pastor to Elder Charles and the First Baptist Church Family. Here at First Baptist he has been minster of the sick. We can call him anytime of the day or night and he has been there for all of us.
His hobbies are cooking, reading, teaching counseling, witnessing and his personal computer (www,com...)
Rev..Lionel Mason is blessed with a family filed with love for him including 11 grandchildren, sisters and brothers, daughter-in-law, father-in-law, sisters-in-law, brothers in law, also a host of nieces, nephews relatives friends and Church family who cherish his love and affection along with Stefon, Brandon and his wife, Shirlie.
